Here’s a project I’ve had in mind for about three months but could never find what I needed…until the other day! My friend Linda at Nina’s Nest and I were out Goodwill hunting when I saw it! Linda always says that if you look long enough, the thing that you are searching for will show up…and it did!

before-horz I have been wanting to make an oh-so-frenchy rooster chalkboard to use as a door hanger, but could never find the just right rooster! I had even considered cutting one out of foam board, but I’m glad I waited! This little guy was perfect and only cost $2.50yaay! First, I first had to disassemble it a little so that I could use it. It was standing on that star (which I will use later) and had that thingy attached to its tail. I think a part was missing, but it didn’t matter. Next, I painted it with two coats of chalkboard paint.

afterFinally, I tied knots in the ends of a length of twine and hot-glued them to my rooster to give it a more vintage look and…taa daa! This is one of the easiest projects I have ever done! For the perfect finishing touch, I added a little frenchy Bonjour…

bk Hey! Wait! Careful, Baby Kitty! Don’t mess up all my hard work! I think he’s feeling a little "fowl" today! lol

toile bedroomAnd at last my rooster chalkboard has found its way to the place where I have been picturing it for three months…on the door to my black and white toile bedroom! Ahhh!

And a footnote...Now that I finally found a rooster shape, I see they have them at Michaels...reduced to 79 cents! I bought two any way! You never know when you might need a rooster!
