When it comes to decorating DIYs, I always find myself drawn to these three…burlap, drop cloth and chalkboards! Do you? I think it’s because they make such a fun statement without costing a whole lot of money…two big advantages in my book! So I was excited to find some wonderful examples of creative ways to use them at The Scoop this week…and some of them can be used over the holidays! 
Isn’t this a fun idea? I am thinking Christmas decorations! Purple Hues and Me gives you a detailed tutorial for making these fabulous 3-D burlap stars! 
I have been seeing more and more variations of printed burlap and, of course, I love this one with a frenchy print! Confessions of a Serial DIYer shows us how to to use it to make this pretty burlap framed mirror.
Burlap is the perfect fabric for this fall harvest wreath from Implausibly Beautiful. Love those pretty embellishments! 
Number Fifth-Three share this easy idea for a rustic burlap tassel garland…another fun possibility for Christmas decorations! Be sure to head over for the tutorial.
Here is another idea for a banner using burlap from Glamorous Affordable Life…and she has added some pretty lace as well!
I love this fun burlap tree from DIY beautify…another project that can carry right on over into Christmas…
…as well as her drop cloth tree! She has hit two of my three favorite project mediums in one post! 
And while we are on the subject of drop cloth…The Turquoise Home shares how she added some structure to her drop cloth curtains…fabulous!
And you know I love this one…2 Vintage Sisters used drop cloth to create a liner for her French market cart so that she can use it as a laundry hamper…genius! 
Here’s a colorful and meaningful family sign from Denise on a Whim…and that’s not a chalkboard! It’s actually drop cloth painted to look like it! 
And speaking of chalkboards…you have got to love Thrifty Rebel’s copper platter chalkboard sign door chimes! She shares the details on her blog.
Why have I never thought of this one? Setting for Four uses inexpensive thrift store tiles and turns them into chalkboard hot pads embellished with seasonal art from a printable! Love it! And these would make wonderful gifts, too! 
At the Farmhouse transformed a chalkboard for her sister’s shop into Christmas art using some pretty fonts…
…and created a chalkboard “fire” for an old mantel! Don’t you love this?
