CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Magnolia Wreath I am excited to show you what I have been working on…my Pottery Barn inspired faux magnolia wreath. I love the look of magnolias and had a huge one in my yard as a child. They just say Christmas to me…but sadly, I don’t have one, or even access to one nowadays. I do, however, have a nice collection of faux magnolia stems. Sooo…

Pottery Barn Magnolia and Red Ornament Wreath …when I saw this magnolia and red ornament wreath on Pottery Barn’s website, my little wheels started turning. And I already had almost everything that I needed to make it! Good…because mine came in for about $4.00 compared to their $100 or so!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Magnolia Wreath Tutorial Here’s what you will need:
  • 5 or 6 nice sized faux magnolia stems (or if you are a lucky duck and have access, you could always use the real ones) Mine came from Hobby Lobby.
  • 15 unbreakable red ornaments (mine came from Walmart)
  • A grapevine wreath
  • Florist wire
  • Hot glue gun
  • A few small faux evergreen sprigs
  • Jute twine
And here’s what you will do:
  1. Attach the leaves to the wreath in pairs of bundles with the stems touching and the leaves pointing away from each other. I created 5 sets of pairs.
  2. Using the florist wire, create little clusters of three ornaments then hot glue the ornaments so that they are touching each other and do not move about. You will probably have to hold them together until they have sufficiently cooled. Be sure to use unbreakable ornaments since I do not think that glass ornaments could handle the pressure or the heat.
  3. Hot glue the ornament clusters in the empty spaces between the leaf bundles, covering the stems. Add a few faux evergreen sprigs near the ornaments.
  4. Finish it off by reversing a few of the magnolia leaves and hot gluing them near the ornaments. Then just tie a length of jute twine to serve as a hanger.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Magnolia Wreath I love the variations of the textures and the way that the ornaments look like clusters of berries!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Faux Magnolia WreathHere’s another look at my new all-time favorite Christmas wreath...a classic! I am so happy that I made it with faux magnolia so I can use it for many Christmases to come. And best of all, I only spent about $4.00 for the grapevine wreath since I already had everything else...and that beats the heck out of their $100+!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse WreathAnd just in case you would like some more ideas for Christmas wreaths, I am sharing my wreaths from the last few Christmases. Here’s my farmhouse Christmas wreath from last year’s mantel…simple and rustic.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Burlap and Plaid WreathYou may remember my burlap and plaid Christmas wreath since it appeared in Country Sampler magazine’s November/December issue as a part of my Christmas home tour.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT French Ticking and Burlap WreathMy  French ticking and burlap Christmas wreath was easy to make, with fun burlap and sweater roses to add texture.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Sheet Music Decorations This one is probably the most popular… my sheet music wreath. I even made ornaments and candles to match! And this one is not just for Christmas, but could be used all year long!

kittyAll this talk of wreaths is making Miss Kitty tired! I am going to let her nap because I am going to need her help when I post the mantel that goes with my new Pottery Barn inspired magnolia wreath…so stay tuned!
