What are you working on?</b> <br />I am in the process of transitioning my home’s décor from late summer into early fall. I know some of you are saying…<i>No! How does my work differ from others in my genre?</b><br />This is a tough one because there are so many talented bloggers who are also in the same genre as me! But I have to say that I think that my years as a French teacher and the time that I spent living in France give me a little different perspective. My goal from the start has been to turn my home into my own little corner of Provence with warm colors and a lived-in feeling. I might also add that not everyone is lucky to be aided as I am by my feline staff of four, one of whom, Baby Kitty, can be seen above,  under the table taking a break from overseeing my work!<br /><br /><br /><b>3. Why do I write/create what I do?</b><br />I have given you a little hint at one of the reasons in my previous answer…the need to be on a budget! lol Add to that the need to create that I think most bloggers feel and you have the result…<i>my DIY French style!</i> I love all things French, but as a retired teacher, I honestly can’t afford the fabulous antiques and wonderful vintage linens and <i>brocante </i>or flea market finds that I see in magazines. <i>Sooo</i>…I have had to come up with ways to re-create what I love without spending a fortune!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBG2p3o0EENHN72js708cxUKYill4zztvCKEfnwi2QgnP-oacK1Pn6nwjrERZYwlPhrXUHPmmCn2lRCeFBavts7WXyqqP5BjTp2iMJ3wUWhY-L6PAggVrVLkXSaSXTBp9O-ep3CV9GPSpa/s1600-h/02512.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT No-Sew Vintage Look French Monogrammed Linens" border="0" height="788" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3MY3xn4NaCyitDvk9gg6bPoq4dDV63NW_hmPMhSgA9dq7wHMSpEDYaY75n-O_FgfyNYAP15zELJg6oEdEMbRdByKNoNOeiEUNy0EPctBFSA9SuIPpaWJNyDBWQYeXcOYSEakRv_bKFfT3/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT No-Sew Vintage Look French Monogrammed Linens" width="596" /></a> My favorite example of <i>frenchiness</i> created on a budget is my no-sew <a href="http://confessionsofaplateaddict.blogspot.com/2012/02/finding-vintage-frenchinessat-ikea.html" target="_blank"><i>monogrammed French tea towels!</i></a> They are actually 79 cent dish towels from IKEA embellished with an iron-on transfer…so easy that anyone can do them! <br /><br /><br /><b>4. How does that writing/creative process work?</b><br />I am sure that for every blogger you would find a different answer to that question. For me, I try to keep in mind that anything I create needs to be simple and inexpensive, both for myself and my readers. I love finding a vintage or flea market piece that speaks to me…begging me to use it in a vignette or repurpose it. Sometimes I see something that I love and my mind goes to work immediately figuring out how I can make my own version of it. I shop for frames at HobLob when they are 50% off. I stock up thru out the year. Also at the end of the holiday season I always take part in Michaels clearance. Then I used a vintage scene from a card I had to make it look like you are peering thru the window at Santa. I like oil paints rather than acrylic because they just look more "aged" in color and patina to me.
