I set the table with extra care today since I knew you were coming! I’ve used a soft pink toile matelassé coverlet as my tablecloth…
…and I’m using my favorite French faïence dinnerware…Lunéville Old Strasbourg. It’s so pretty and delicate…perfect for breakfast. But it has special meaning to me because it is manufactured in Lunéville, France…a wonderful little town in the heart of the Lorraine region and only a short distance from the little town where I lived.
It actually comes in two different patterns starring a rose…
…or a tulip. I love the shape and the little scattering of smaller flowers around the rim!
I have to admit, though, that I have strayed a little from my French theme and added my favorite pink depression glass since it is such a wonderful complement to the pink flowers on the dinnerware. My Red Cliff ironstone coffee pot is doing double duty today as a tea pot. Sorry, my francophile friends…no café au lait this morning!
I’ve placed lemon slices on this delicate little pink depression glass bonbon dish…just the perfect size!
And I am sharing one of my newest thrifting finds…a grapey twist-handled butter knife in my favorite silverplate pattern…Rogers Brothers Vintage. It is accompanying another favorite find…this wonderful little vintage roll-top butter dish.
I’ve added a basket to hold French bread and more pink depression glass bowls…
…filled with fresh peaches and blackberries that I picked up at a North Georgia farm stand yesterday. The peaches will top my cereal and I do believe that the blackberries are destined for a cobbler! ;-)
Beside the table you can see my shabby picnic basket planter, making its appearance for the fourth year and filled with happy begonias. Beside it is my Walking Iris, finally blooming this summer for the first time after eight years of waiting! :-)
A pair of vintage French script bird pillows that I made last year can be found in the frenchy painted wrought iron chairs. You can see how I did it plus find the free download for the birds here.
Here’s a final look. I have to admit that I don’t start every morning like this, but it’s nice to do it occasionally!
As for Baby Kitty, he has joined my on the patio but is much more interested in the birds at the feeder, as you can see! Don’t worry…he’s too slow to do anything other than just look!
Please be sure to visit my fellow francophiles to see what they have waiting to share with you! Ahhh…a movable feast, French style!
