CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Stars & Stripes Rag Ball FillerI have a fun idea for adding some patriotic stars and stripes to your table this 4th of July...and it only takes minutes. It’s my stars and stripes rag balls! They can be used several different ways, depending on your container or your mood. And…you will not believe how easy and inexpensive they are to make!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Patiotic Rag Balls Supplies Here’s what you will need:
  • Styrofoam balls
  • Fabric scraps in stars and striped patterns
  • Straight pins
  • All-purpose glue such as Elmers

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Stars & Stripes Rag Ball Filler tutorial And here’s what you will do:
  1. Tear the fabric into one inch strips by first cutting a slit and then ripping the fabric. You may have to make one odd-sized strip to get the fabric started. After that, each strip should be the same size.
  2. Pin the end of one of the strips to the ball and begin winding it. The pin will be hidden under the fabric as you wind. If it is not long enough, just pin it in place along with the next strip and keep winding until the whole ball is covered.
  3. Once the ball is completely covered, cut the last strip to the right length and glue it in place. Add a straight pin to hold it until the glue dries.

Baby Kitty However, Baby Kitty says that the strips make fun toys and it’s nice to leave one or two of them around for your furry friends!
