I never dreamed that it was possible right here in Georgia but then I discovered that <i>Ooh La La Lavender Farm</i> in Eatonton was hosting their annual Lavender Festival! There is nothing like that wonderful fragrance and I knew there would be lots of handmade lavender-based goodies to check out as well.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk_D7un52XSHGkQe49mbK5QPkoE1D9LANpKTASDewJUVPcXKQ7nJNnILLsKW_xa1-o7AvyT4iR6Uezmaw9YMgGyeFzc9Gb6VnYaMpWSriGJDgiveJwmTtB-2MjhByloK-5Drpng3n4HA4R/s1600-h/Abbaye_de_Snanque_GordesVaucluse_vue%25255B1%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Abbaye_de_Sénanque_(Gordes-Vaucluse)_vue_du_Nord" border="0" height="484" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuIWRmE4mNuNyomdW8RpdOGg2shc-mlyJbBvZBqRbnZRflM6Rf5OVVFUybjqoAJDD8DaakqgYNQoWBqVC7iazLFqYCqFZhoDxDEFJ4ty_9EjRC_5-o2FSfsKpUglBgtqo72bLXIOG3F2S9/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Abbaye_de_Sénanque_(Gordes-Vaucluse)_vue_du_Nord" width="644" /></a>And…does anything say France more than a field of lavender? My traveling buddy and BFF Nan and I visited the Abbaye de Sénanque several years ago during our trip to Provence. It’s the ancient building often found in the background of iconic photos of lavender fields in France. It was an experience that I will never forget so I was excited to find a little bit of Provence right here in Georgia!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaTj5iZpS6ywEx1VA3nfgEV2pBZ0hupxgew967mqBcHxqcx20cRhUyfLQLIQ3t_O65NWBhZzr3lKVpv5nYFH8k4LsOb_QcER5wneWgKIM1w_qr9az-NGSl71QdqhVxQX1X-3-3tbZgGBZ2/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520A%252520Visit%252520to%252520the%252520Lavender%252520Farm3%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPUytsOCXQf9VDt6QDf20budTJXXPudhWf_PfphNq_0uy0ltpYMwh1OMJCWP3fuQsK0Uo-o4dXN6oOXOG10ShC_mHvgr_sCIcFCGzy7r40mgz0jXRqHfLjaMC7gaVf8lAMFp1iZBsz4WlA/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" width="640" /></a>The farm is located down a winding dirt road in an old pecan orchard…miles from anywhere!<i> Ahhh!</i> Gotta love being out in the country! There were horses and ponies, lots of chickens with a very vocal rooster and fun things for the kids to do as well. At the center of the operation was this barn…<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZXzBfKbTrbIGfVhAqgMWfWfFpdbqFNNPxHLm7yrVA3rB8_AfJBdzYzdSY4GVfQjq1YeGYIIGh3j6UN0eEtv4Un6AHi0VexdGNn6QByjvjjrg2empCwFcMvaSFGuUWoqkCUJsTkd8tyZuu/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520A%252520Visit%252520to%252520the%252520Lavender%252520Farm9%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" border="0" height="484" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOeuCuIMjlchGbg4HWH9Kc2zI0iCDmcPiefOlhV7MM-qRlpBBVKdqhP9ya2bJVnvp6uRxD9lcZdEXzfGaS66zm5e73SvlNwCXY2PFkc52iez2kjt5qT-VG9ZhUJd_iJGZ_A1moFXbuW_gr/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" width="644" /></a> …where we were able to check out the wonderful products straight from the farm such as handmade lavender soaps that smelled heavenly…<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV1jHm0LNlI0obTMXJJP-x80lqY9N-QqsJHMDGgjH_eeqlmjinROflG_114MRKzCZWf27As2Tj7wNAlm3ZILNHlfux4_avXeIINJaKaMt6oVtHHD_Ya4kGK8JNmOtJhr-38IVe0wWGsqOZ/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520A%252520Visit%252520to%252520the%252520Lavender%252520Farm10%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" border="0" height="484" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEk0ef-UZPu7HyatI_cnFGpmnzsxozRSGjIh7bl61EVLfdUj7mXA5xGmMp9jYu-h2p7mx3_b0WNOOqiwVvdt9rnJZax6swfplOc9WVp9-bhFy6KaeyZe8_b6GMIEDbiUX0HRrGktRciDLi/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT A Visit to the Lavender Farm" width="644" /></a> …and came in several variations, including one made with goats milk and another with oatmeal added. We love to  copy…errr…be inspired by what we see in magazines and in catalogs! In other words, we love to create home hacks. Be sure to check out the links at the end of the post to see what they are sharing!<br />I have a fun project to show you that I have had on my mind for a while now. If you know me, you know how I love adding a <i>vintage-y</i> touch to my décor…and the same goes for stars and stripes! So when I saw this fun idea for party favors on <i><a href="http://www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/how-to/g400/fourth-july-crafts-0707/?slide=9" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Country Living’s website</a></i>, I knew I would have to try it for myself!<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7-rnq42KVm5ksSCNDT_LF9ls95SQoN8p3oYEier7gDtFeV6UKuqQ-XOJBqG8Qvtce56U4IiXmvMGcZH8NvOne_jY532OHM0kfGEaFg3PINTWb0aDSz3tF_1D5g9qbIHMKgqnNLIBBIeA0/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520Country%252520Living%252520Inspired%252520Vintage%252520Firecracker%252520Party%252520Favors%252520Supplies%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors Supplies" border="0" height="705" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5n1QrP-1GPXek7HnYqL5RCSP2a2yPFEesmV_KmWEx_m5lFd8WABm9KHfGeBVbYFPcTjNATug7y7UGFJoYUwTk0QW3oWdhYOyKsC8UTyCltaMmKK2VHJvMvf7quNxwZO9p47ytxhTFyWli/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors Supplies" width="579" /></a> <b>Here’s what you will need:</b> <br /><ul><li>Print-outs of vintage 4th of July postcards (Most of mine came from the <i><a href="http://www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/how-to/g400/fourth-july-crafts-0707/?slide=9" target="_blank">Country Living link</a></i> but I found that I had to save them and then print them since that function didn’t seem to work on their site. I also found a few on Google images.)</li><li>Paper towel tubes</li><li>Tissue paper in red and blue</li><li>Fabric scraps and trim </li><li>Sparkly pipe cleaners (Mine came from Dollar Tree)</li><li>Baker’s twine</li><li>Poster paper</li><li>Rubber cement</li><li>Elmer’s glue</li></ul><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9EBquZyvydxTpNk75_KOq5ZN6Bmr4gZVtjdvcav3zERnyXqssl86zn-c0OSIx5ghPlopxpFwtYKzJAWd_9_B4iMqkNgiiq91atbsERkBd4yZwREb_n9dgo9v4OOsS4_R3H4TJscjnYd8I/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520Country%252520Living%252520Inspired%252520Vintage%252520Firecracker%252520Party%252520Favors%252520Tutorial%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors Tutorial" border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2BKBq_TWzTcd2dVQxu5eu2i-_M9VquL1ZIy-P2-L4quzGHlwu44vycPd0E1Ab8He3zrCEDUHWjTP0y0PCKiO2SSijhW_Ufr4WLOqV-qknOuls38mFxZfdT3QFyuWX6Yjib5PbmJPusjQI/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors Tutorial" width="640" /></a> <b>And here’s what you will do:</b><br /><ol><li>Fold the tissue paper in half…although in my package, the existing fold was not quite half so I had to trim it. Tape it to one end of the paper towel roll, roll it up and secure with rubber cement along the edge. (Don’t worry…it will dry transparent.) I cut 2 inches off of several of the rolls just to add a little variety in height.</li><li>Glue one of the vintage print-outs to the center of the wrapped tube. Add the trim of your choice to the top and the bottom. Cut the top of the tissue a bit shorter (I used crafting scissors), insert a pipe cleaner “fuse” and tie shut with a length of baker’s twine.</li><li>Cut the paper a bit shorter at the bottom of the roll and tuck it inside. Add your party favors…such as sparklers and Pop-Its...and secure them inside by adding a bit of the tissue. If you wish to keep them as decorations only, add some dry beans to give them weight.</li><li>Cut a circle slightly larger than the bottom of the tube from poster paper. Add a thin strip of Elmer’s glue around the bottom rim of the tube, place on the circle cut-out and press in place. Allow to dry slightly then trim the circle so that it is about the same size as the end of the roll.</li></ol><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihoGYwbvBgZIyXoWfxknjRt6KlrRVyBq_R_7kQw9QvgIKIHfrKuVSt4g4n4PDzxBIhOXuKCHYwR2BYUxSx2RuY5Ey4v6_qt4xg56y3kt_PKGbJLiwIJ3OhngObC-25VHrgJWCrn9NLgUMD/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520Country%252520Living%252520Inspired%252520Vintage%252520Firecracker%252520Party%252520Favors3%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors" border="0" height="609" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEKHElTchtPbd8gbAMaz7DRXzP44GgoBviRdjHWdB3Dc9gShysjaHdI7j2L4sYtamWrFTM89Moi5xu-WzPKp-UMsJHGFx2cCIGe_K9ruNIMVRLBI0eamewypUVrcbzSoSVLjdZJDjXKbJy/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Country Living Inspired Vintage Firecracker Party Favors" width="609" /></a> <i>And here they are!</i> They will be a fun addition to my 4th of July table and make nice gifts for my guests to take home with them as well!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBGOXERBw0YBrGioAc_byT0nOODZ2KlzVyDRlIIXqaRCNc1hgaFdA0WlVHt81k5-M_vPNKJKlDWJHN8YRAhXPdobdnfnsXYLP3Mpuca2ntx4PPEUtwYyNTt6m7jlyD5d2FQCtW05MtSQFz/s1600-h/CONFESSIONS%252520OF%252520A%252520PLATE%252520ADDICT%252520Easy%252520Ideas%252520in%252520Stars%252520and%252520Stripes%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img alt="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Ideas in Stars and Stripes" border="0" height="686" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMQx_wj5T5kcHOjq-KCi5YaeJ4L4yML5e0BvPZRRkrH93pwtLqacufHJySd3tbdpXzm9LNne7m-8yFFm-Bt0zK8wwAkV3ADwjrrYFDcqliWA12AMG2sO3ZQfa9rASf0A3gi46vd9Pd2-eK/?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Ideas in Stars and Stripes" width="575" /></a> And just in case you are on the look-out for some more ideas for the 4th of July, here are some of my favorites.
