First you must pretend that you are here…in this wonderful mas or farmhouse in Provence. I actually spent a week here a few years ago. Sigh! If you would like a closer look, click here. Next you must pretend that we are having a rustic country-style supper of vegetable potage and a crusty baguette with sweet Normandy butter followed by fresh fruit.
And of course, our French farmhouse has a cat...the lovely Mademoiselle Ozzie who looks a little pensive today. Perhaps the sunny day (finally!) has her dreaming of spring. Just in case you are wondering, that’s my favorite frenchy faux grain sack table runner on the table.
At the center of it all is this fanciful tureen…a $6.00 Goodwill find! I love its oh-so-frenchy lines!
And…you’ve gotta love this pair of candlesticks…another Goodwill find at under $3.00 for the pair! You may have noticed that they match one of the plates in my header!
Aren’t these bowls gorgeous? I love the vintage Hungarian peasants! They were a sweet gift from my friend Barb at The Everyday Home! (You should check out her online shop Farmhouse Decor where she has lots of wonderful farmhouse accents at a very reasonable prices!)
I love the folk costumes and...of course...the colors!
Here’s another one of my favorite gifts…this one from my mom. I love the intricate details of this vintage depression glass butter dish! Can you see the etching on the plate? It was used at a dinner during the Carter administration.
I was really excited to find these wonderful grain sack dish towels at the Williams Sonoma outlet on sale for about $8.00 each. They are so soft and thick and are big enough that they could be made into a pillow if I ever decided to! I was happy to see them in blue to match my faux grain sack table runner since I only seem to find red.
And a real splurge for me…this wonderful rustic wooden tray for $32 from the Pottery Barn Outlet. I fell in love and it had to come home with me. The metal corners and handle and the rough-finished wood just called my name! For me, it was the element that pulled it all together...and I know I will be getting a lot of use out of it.
And here’s a final look. I love the patina of the wood and the wonderful contrast of the apple green with the blue and white…just a little hint of spring! And…like our Ozzie, I am really ready for it to get here! What about you?
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my French farmhouse vignette! Please visit these wonderful bloggers and their beautiful blogs to see what they are up to and to find a list of this week’s participants!
