We’ve been having a few days of cooler weather…unusual for us here in Georgia…and I have been taking advantage of it to get my yard and patio back into shape. I’ll have photos to show you soon. However, in the meanwhile I do have a small make-over to share with you…my Ballard inspired architectural piece!
However, it’s not new. The last time that you saw it was two years ago when it looked like this…painted Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey. You may remember how it looked when I found it…a horror with a really good shape! I enjoyed trying it out to showcase some of my favorites, like these starfish.
Baby Kitty liked it best with this stack of old books…but the truth is that grey just doesn't go with anything in my house! So the piece has sat in my closet for two years. Yikes! But since I got it for a song at Goodwill, I haven’t felt very guilty about that. 
But when I saw the Medici Capitol at Ballard Designs, I knew what I needed to do…paint it a distressed white!One big difference...theirs of a similar size is $49 and mine...only $1.91! Woo hoo!
So I pulled out my Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint and added a quick coat…trying not to cover too much of the grey finish so that it would still have that vintage look…and I love the result! 
I think I will find many more ways to use it in this lighter color since it will work so much better with my décor!
I have to say that, although I am not one to paint my furniture, I have made good use of my little sample of Old White, sprucing up a gold thrift store frame for my vintage French spring vignette…
…and dressing up an old Clementine box to create my vintage French planter box. It’s just about all gone, so I may have to invest in some more soon!
