CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas Jacket PillowAre you ready for a little Christmas? I hope so because here’s my first project of the season…a fun Christmas pillow made from a jacket…and a matching lumbar sweater pillow to boot! But this is not an ordinary Christmas pillow…no siree! It has a little story, too!

You may remember that Barb from The Everyday Home came for a little visit during the Country Living Fair and we walked all over every square inch of it! You can read more about our adventures  here. But that’s not all we did…I took her Goodwill hunting with me, too! And that’s when we hatched our plot!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas Jacket Pillow I came home with a pretty Christmas-y looking plaid jacket with frog closures and a red cable knit sweater…and Barb took home a few GW finds as well. Can you see where this is going? We decided that we would each make pillows and post them together! Fun, huh?

OZ Well…that day has come! It has been a dreary, rainy day today so my CEO and co-host Ozzie decided that it was time to make the pillows! First, we tried them out on the forms that we already had in our Goodwill hunting stash and found one that was the right size.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas Jacket Pillow Next, we cut the jacket to fit the pillow…but one inch larger. My form was 16 inches, so I cut the jacket into a 17 inch square. Then I simply sewed it all the way around on all four sides, popped the pillow form in through the jacket opening and…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Christmas Jacket Pillowtaa daa! I love it! It has just the right amount of Christmas without being over the top and is going to be perfect for my Christmas décor this year…with a theme yet to be revealed! I love the way the sweater pillow turned out, too! I created it using the same method as the jacket pillow…cutting a rectangle one inch lager than the measurements of my pillow form, but leaving one end open to hand-stitch closed once the form was safely tucked inside!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Fall Sweater PillowsAnd…just in case you missed it, here’s my very first sweater pillow with a burlap rose added for a little texture! You can get a closer look and see how I made it here.

The Everyday Home Christmas Sweater Pillow And here are the pillows that Barb made from her Goodwill hunting find! Aren’t they fabulous? The deer are just the perfect motif for the holiday season! You can read all about them and see how she made them here. What fun we had doing this! I hope you enjoyed it, too! And stay tuned for more Christmas projects…I’m just getting started!
