Hi everyone and thanks so much for joining us each week! After all, it wouldn't be a party without our guests! We've had a break after a week of rain for some beautiful spring weather so I am getting my patio in order for summer. It's time to add flowers!

On the blog, I was excited to be invited to curate a board of RESTORATION HARDWARE INSPIRED DECOR DIYS for Hometalk! Be sure to head over and check them out. I have included a couple of super easy and inexpensive ideas of my own!

And if you know me, you know that, as a retired French teacher, I always have a little bit of France on my mind and in my home. So I am sharing FIVE WAYS TO ADD FRENCH LAVENDER TO YOUR HOME...that wonderful scent that takes me to Provence every time! You will also find some great tips from our Country French design group as well!

And now for the fun part...I get to share some of your wonderful ideas that caught my eye last week!

Poppy at With a Dash of Color shared her pretty Spring Tea Tray Vignette. Bird nests and flowers just say spring to me!

Beth at Mary Beth's Place showed us her beautiful French Chair Makeover...created especially for her mom!

You know I loved this tablescape...Butterflies in Blue & White...from Judith at Botanic Bleu! Pretty place cards and fresh flowers add the perfect touch!

Hey...Cinco de Mayo is not far away so be sure to file away this recipe for Cinco de Mayo Mini Taco Dips from Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is! Yummy!

And you've gotta love the bright spring colors in Julie's Spring Wreath that Will Make You Smile! Head on over to Love My Simple Home to check it out!

And now...I can't wait to see what you have to share, so let's get this party started!

Five Ways to Use French Lavender in Your Home

I am so excited because it’s time for our Country French design group's monthly share! I love seeing what my very talented fellow francophiles have to show us each month! This time the topic is our choice so I chose one of my favorite ways to feel as though I've had a little trip to France…adding the wonderful scent of French lavender to your home!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Lavender SachetPerhaps my favorite is lavender sachets…a little bit of your favorite fabric stitched into a shape that you love and filled with lavender! It’s so nice just to slip one into your lingerie drawer and then, each time you open it, you are taken to the lavender fields of Provence! Mine is made of French ticking and toile…a combination that I love. You can get another look at it, plus some details on Annie Sloan’s take on types of Country French interiors here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Lemon and Lavender Simmering PotpourriAnother way to add the scent of French lavender is simmering potpourri…a combination of herbs and favorite essential oils that is warmed on the stovetop to release that wonderful fragrance in your entire home! One of my favorites is lemon and lavender …such a nice way to freshen up your home, especially during the winter months!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy and Inexpensive Faux Lavender WreathI also love the look of lavender, but it can be fragile and does not always lend itself to being used in some types of décor. Sooo…I created a faux lavender wreath so that I could have the look without the mess of the little buds dropping off. It’s really easy and inexpensive to make!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Vintage French Planter Box But there is no substitute for the real thing! Here’s a fun way to display live lavender…my vintage French planter box! It’s so easy and you will not believe what it’s made from! You will find the tutorial, including the graphic, here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Lavender Goats Milk SoapAnd finally, here’s a way to use lavender that is also very practical…handmade lavender goats milk soap! If I had any idea how easy and inexpensive it is, I would have been making my own a long time ago! If you love lavender soap like me, but hesitate to buy it often because of the high cost, then this is for you. I made some little soaps in a pretty heart-shaped tartlet tin to give as sweet little gifts…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Lavender Goat's Milk Soap…but I have to admit that I made simple bars of the lavender soap just for me! Sometimes you just need to pamper yourself!

Baby Kitty_thumb[8]Baby Kitty, who is a big fan of the scent of lavender, even gives his seal of approval!
How about you? Have you found other ways to use lavender in your home?

Please head on over to visit my fellow francophiles and their beautiful blogs to see what they have to share this month!

20+ Restoration Hardware Inspired Ideas

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Restoration Hardware Inspired Sea Shell and Starfish StandsYaay! After a week of rain, we finally had some sunshine today! It looks like spring is in full force and thoughts of summer are even starting to creep into my brain! And with summer comes the beach and seashells! So when I was checking out the Restoration Hardware website, I was excited to find this…

Restoration Hardware Branch Coral on a Pedestal …their branch coral on a pedestal…until I saw the price. It’s beautiful, and on sale right now…reduced from $149 to $119. Yikes! Sooo…you guessed it…I took up the copy-cat challenge!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Restoration Hardware Inspired Sea Shell and Starfish Stands Before My first challenge…find some wooden candlesticks...and I came up with these on my first stop at Goodwill at $2.00 for both of them! Woo hoo! They were perfect for me since I wanted something simpler and not quite as tall as theirs.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Restoration Hardware Inspired Sea Shell and Starfish StandsNext, I simply spray-painted them both black to match…easy peasy! I knew I didn’t have any coral, but I did manage to find a starfish and a nice scallop shell in my summer stash so I simply hot-glued them on and…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Restoration Hardware Inspired Sea Shell and Starfish Standstaaa daaa! Here they are…my version for a total of $1.00 each since I only had to buy the candlesticks! Not bad…and waaay better than $149! Watch for them in my summer centerpieces!

Baby KittyBaby Kitty reminds me that this is not my first  RH copy-cat. You may remember my vintage-look project…

…that turned some thrift store paperbacks into my Restoration Hardware inspired book bundle! You can get a better look at it and get all the details, including the graphics, by clicking here.

restoration_hardware_decorAnd I am also excited because Hometalk asked me to curate a board of even more Restoration Hardware inspired décor! You’ll find a nice variety of projects from fabulous furniture pieces to look-alike but oh-so-affordable lighting projects! Be sure to head over here to check it out!
